About
I am an Elementary Gifted and Talented Teacher/Coordinator for 4 of the 7 elementary schools in Teton County, Wyoming. In addition to teaching pull out reading, math and SEL classes for identified intelectually gifted 3-5 students, I support teachers with differentiation for all K-5 students in my schools.
This May I will finish my master's degree from Johns Hopkins School of Education in Interdisciplinary Studies with certificates in Mind, Brain, & Teaching and Administration & Supervision. The focus of my research in these areas has surrounded cognitive factors related to neurodivergence with an emphasis on CLED and 2e learners and developing systems of advanced/gifted learning in schools.
Interests
I am currently focusing on talent development in lower elementary as a means to increase CLED identification . I am also interested in the identification of 2e students. Outside of GT education, I am an improvisor. I use improv exercises and activities whenever possible in the classroom as a means to build critical thinking and creativity. I wrote a book for teaching short form improv skills to middle and high school students (Teaching Improv: The Essential Handbook through Beat by Beat Press) and am always open to answering questions and giving advice on improv in the classroom.
