call for presenters: OATAG conference October 8
The annual conference of the Oregon Association for Talented and Gifted will take place on Saturday, October 8th. 2022 on the beautiful campus of Clackamas Community College, 19600 S Molalla Ave, Oregon City, OR 97045.
The conference theme is "Surviving to Thriving: Supporting Gifted Students in Stressful Times."
We are very excited to announce that the keynote speaker will be Dr. James Delisle. His talk will be "Learning to exhale: Meeting the intellectual and emotional needs of gifted children."
We invite anyone interested in presenting a breakout session for the conference to submit a proposal by going to OATAG Conference Presenter Page.
Proposals are due on July 15th. Speakers will be notified by August 1 if they have been selected.
In addition to formal talks, breakout formats may include roundtable discussions, student panels or educator panels and workshops. Our conferees always appreciate practical presentations with steps that they can implement at home or in school. Breakout presentations should not promote a particular product. Presenters will receive free conference registration.

For more than three decades, Jim Delisle has worked on behalf of gifted children and teens. For 25 years he served as a professor of education at Kent State University (Ohio) where faculty and students awarded him the University's most prestigious teaching award. To keep his college instruction "real", Jim taught gifted children in two middle schools one day each week for 16 years. Among his 17 books are Dumbing Down America: The War on Our Nation's Brightest Young Minds; Doing Poorly on Purpose: Strategies to Reverse Underachievementand Respect Student Dignity; and Parenting Gifted Kids: Tips for Raising Happy and Successful Children
