"Education Runs on Lies"

With reference to the California math framework here's an essay about the need for greater transparency in course titles and greater rigor in curriculum. Perhaps the IES and NAGC could partner on a statement about access to truly rigorous and transparent math curriculum that is delivered with fidelity?

What is startling about this essay is its author: the Director of the Institute of Education Sciences--and its publsher--the IES a Federal agency. The link was sent out in the STEM newsletter from the US Department of Education.

Here's an excerpt: "the delivered curriculum is often a far cry from the rigorous-sounding titles that appear in course catalogs ... In short, many students, even when told they were taking a rigorous and academic-oriented curriculum, were not being given the tools to be fully successful in algebra or geometry."
